Beocreate – Sigma Studio video guides

While we provide pre-defined sound profiles for some Bang & Olufsen speakers, the Beocreate 4-channel amplifier can be used to create all kinds of 1-4 way speakers (even more ways if you use multiple boards). We have decided not to restrict the types of programs you can use with this board, but give you the full flexibility to design all DSP programs you would like to create. Therefore we have created a connector for Analog’s SigmaStudio that allows you to use this development tools with our Beocreate 4 channel amplifier.

SigmaStudio is a very powerful tool that allows access to low-level function of the chip. It is relatively easy to mess up things. Therefore we recommend to use a project that we created specifically for this board and just change it by adding/removing block. We strongly recommend not to modify any registers in the ADAU145x registers settings if you’re not familiar with the internals of the DSP and the Beocreate DAC design. Here is the sample project

Before you can start using SigmaStudio, you need to install the connector on the Raspberry Pi.

Writing a process flow to the DSP

This is always the first step. After pushing the program to the DSP you will immediately be able to use it.

Writing a process flow to the EEPROM

When you finished creating your DSP program, it is a good idea to write it to the EEPROM on the DSP board. This will ensure that the DSP programs will be loaded automatically after a reset/reboot.

Changing settings on the fly

One of the very cool features of SigmaStudio is that you can not only edit settings on-he-fly but you can also get real-time feedback directly from the DSP board. This videos shows this using a simple level detector.

Working with BiQuad filters

Biquad filters are an easy-to-use but powerful element to design all kinds of crossovers, bass-enhancers or just equalisation filters on the DSP.
