HiFiBerry use in Neuroscience

We love the Raspberry Pi platform for its open software. This gives users the chance to even use it for things that it hasn’t been designed specifically. It’s always interesting to see what can be done with our sound hardware that is not just music playback.

A group of Neuro-scientists from France uses our DAC for EEG experiments. While I don’t understand the full background of these experiments, one crucial aspect is low latency and jitter. The low latency of HiFiBerry sound cards already shown here is also a very important feature for these experiments. Even more interesting is the fact that a simple Pi/HiFiBerry combination beats most PC-based setups (running Windows or Linux) in terms of latency and jitter.
