HiFiBerryOS – the minimal streaming distribution

Sometimes, you don’t need a lot of features, but just want to stream music. No files somewhere on a NAS, no video, just a simple player. For this use case, we have create a very small distribution that can be used to setup a streaming player. It doesn’t have all the options of the “bigger” distributions and we don’t plan to implement this.
Today, only Airplay (via shairport-sync) and Spotify (via spotifyd) are supported, but we plan to add more services in the future (e.g. Roon, squeezelite).

Do you want to have a look? Just download it here: hifiberryos-20181002.img. The software is still in a very early stage, so there might be bugs and missing features.

There is no need to configure your sound card, the distribution will automatically detect all HiFiBerry sound cards. It also includes our “dsptoolkit” software to program and configure the digital signal processor on the Beocreate 4 channel amplifier and the HiFiBerry DAC+ DSP.

What do you think? Did you find a bug? Something isn’t working as expected? Please let us know in our community area.
