Handling non-standard sample rates

All of our sound cards (except some OEM models) support the full range of sample rates from 44.1kHz up to 192kHz. That’s 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192kHz. It’s all you need for 99.99% of all applications. However, there are a few special scenarios where you might need a special sample rate, let’s say 131.2kHz. In this case, it get’s complicated. Normal sound cards don’t support this. You could use re-sampling to convert it to a standard sample rate. Alternatively you can use a sound card that can support this.

Our DAC2 HD comes with an programmable clock generator that can be used for this. However, it’s a bit more complicated than just telling the driver to use a specific sample rate. It requires a specific configuration for the clock chip that can’t be done by the end user. It needs not just putting some frequencies into a an Excel sheet to calculate the right parameters, but also measurements on the board and intense testing.  Therefore, this is nothing that can be done by the end user. It has to be implemented by us. If you’re business customer with a specific application that requires non-standard sample rates, please contact us. Tell us more about your specific use case. This will help us to understand if we can offer a solution for your application. Please note that this service is not available to end-users.
